WHY I DO IT
Cherish memories
This didn't start as a business idea. It started because my BFF was hurting. She lost her best friend and ordered a memorial box to keep the ashes. It cost her a small fortune. When it arrived, it looked cheap. Just a plain box with a crooked label stuck on it. She was already heartbroken. Then this?
She told me she wished she had something that felt personal. Something that looked like it was made with the same love she had for her pet. We brainstormed for weeks, sampled, tested, failed, tested and finally created. A couple of months in now, and that's what I do.
Our memories deserve better than a crooked label. They deserve something made with care.
HOW I MAKE IT
Aesthetic keepsake
My hexagon boxes start as raw pine shells, sourced from a local manufacturer who values clean finishes as much as I do. When they arrive at my workshop (aka lounge), they're just smooth timber, blank canvases. So while I don't build the raw wooden box itself, every bit from the designing to finishing is my handiwork. Every keepsake I put together, every slate I engrave is my way of making sure it is unique, and that no one else gets that same disappointment. If it's leaving my workshop, it has had my full attention. Hand crafted, natural product, locally made, with love... for you.

I've selected three beautiful colours that bring warmth and happiness when you open your keepsake. I hand-cut the felt lining for the base and the lid. I'm incredibly careful about this part. I cut the felt to fit the hexagon shape perfectly, ensuring there isn't a single glue mark or loose thread in sight. If you don't want any colour inserts, select "No felt" in the dropdown.

On natural slate
I don't believe in "batching" orders. I build every engraving file from scratch. I'll sit at my desk and manually place your loved one's name, their dates, and the design you've picked; whether it's the angel wings with a paw, claw or a simple heart, to make sure the layout looks right. I then etch that design onto a piece of natural slate, which is set onto the pine lid. Swipe to have a look at the choices below.

Powered by The Courier Guy. Because the package is small I use the Pudo smart locker courier system in South Africa. With just over 2300 locations, you'll easily find a locker, kiosk or pick-up point close to you. Delivery nationwide only in South Africa.
I have included the delivery cost so you have one less thing to worry about.
- You'll receive a PIN/QR code via WhatsApp or email to collect, within a 5-day limit.
- Available 24/7 (dependent on the shopping centre or petrol station's operating hours).
- If you don't collect it, it will be returned to the closest Kiosk. Don't worry, Pudo will notify you directly.
- Generally open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00, and Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00. Some locations have extended hours.
